Paul Maia

EXPERIENCE

Paul Maia joined Bain Capital in 2025. He is a Managing Director and Head of Strategy for the firm.

Prior to joining Bain Capital, Paul co-founded and led McKinsey's practice centered on advising the C-suite of private capital GPs on their strategy, organization, and strategic M&A. He has a decade of experience in this space, covering GPs in every continent, across every asset class, and across all sizes and ownership structures. Paul has also leveraged his experience in private capital markets to advise leaders across the broader ecosystem on their approach to private capital, including institutional investors, traditional asset managers and hedge funds, government backed entities, and tech and services vendors who sell to private capital GPs.

EDUCATION

Paul received an MBA from Wharton with majors in finance, and business economics and public policy. He also holds a Certificate in Law from the University of Pennsylvania and a degree in computer science and engineering from IST in Portugal.
