Bain Capital sponsors the Young Women’s Program at the 2016 Massachusetts Conference for Women The young women that attended the "I AM THAT GIRL: Empowering our Everyday Life" session

The Massachusetts Conference for Women is an annual event that draws thousands of attendees and offers opportunities for business networking, professional development and personal growth. Dozens of expert speakers led workshops and seminars on issues that matter most to women, including personal finance, business and entrepreneurship, health, work/life balance and more.

Attendees had the opportunity to listen to inspiring keynote speakers that included Anita Hill, University Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women's Studies at Brandeis University, Gayle King, Co-host of "CBS This Morning" and editor-at-large of O, the Oprah Magazine, and Sara Blakely, founder and owner of SPANX, Inc.

Bain Capital sponsored the Young Women's Program, which provides high school junior and senior girls with the opportunity to attend the conference and participate in a seminar track designed especially for them. This program allows our next generation of leaders to hear from dynamic speakers, exchange ideas and begin to chart their own paths.

Beth Clymer, Executive Vice President Bain Capital Private Equity emceed a session called "I AM THAT GIRL: Empowering our Everyday Life" in which speaker Wendy Wecksell, CEO, I AM THAT GIRL, advised the young women on how to be the best versions of themselves, how to collaborate instead of compete, and how to contribute as much as they consume as they navigate the world.

After the conference, Clymer said, "the session was incredibly inspiring for me and I hope it was even more useful for for the 200+ young women in the audience. Wendy Wecksell, CEO of I AM THAT GIRL had a powerful message for the participants about how young women can encourage each other to be their best selves – not the selves others tell them to be." Beth continued, The highlight of the session was when she asked students come to the mic to complete a sentence: 'I am a badass because…' One young woman answered, 'I am a badass because I can appreciate another woman's beauty without being negative about my own.' Seeing the energy that everyone in the room got from these stories and empowerment techniques Wendy shared made it clear that giving young women access to an event like this can truly change their lives."
