Liam’s Lucky Charms and the Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway 2017

On June 24 and 25, 22 Bain Capital employees joined more than 2,000 riders for the 33rd Annual Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway 2017. Tackling the two-day, 150-mile journey from Boston to Provincetown, team Bain Capital rode in support of Liam's Lucky Charms for the tenth consecutive year, raising funds to help the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of America create a world free of MS.

Liam's Lucky Charms, founded by Bain Capital Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller Liam Kennedy, once again paced the fundraising field, having raised nearly $440,000 to date. In total, the Liam's Lucky Charms' team's efforts comprise approximately 18% of the $2,367,715 raised in 2017 so far to aid the fight against MS.

2017 is also the year Liam's Lucky Charms will surpass the $2 million mark in donations made to the MS Society.

Beginning on the morning of Saturday, June 24, the cyclists biked from Quincy through the coastal towns of Massachusetts' South Shore to Cape Cod, ending the first leg at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne, where the Lucky Charms riders were welcomed with massages, music and refreshments. Climbing back aboard their bikes early Sunday morning, the riders then peddled across the Bourne Bridge and along the gorgeous Cape Cod coast as they made their way towards the finish line in Provincetown, where they had the chance to socialize and celebrate their achievements before boarding a party boat back to Boston.

"As I do every year, I'd like to thank all of the riders, volunteers, sponsors and donors who helped make the 33rdAnnual Cape Cod Getaway another resounding success," said Liam. "It's inspiring to see new faces join longtime supporters every year, and this year's outstanding fundraising results have brought us that much closer to a world free of MS."

Since its inaugural year, Liam's Lucky Charms has raised more than $2 million and has gone from 15 riders to more than 180.
