Michael Cooney, PhD

EXPERIENCE

Dr. Michael Cooney joined Bain Capital in 2021. He is a Vice President on the Life Science steam. Previously, he was a Life Sciences fellow.

Prior to joining Bain Capital, Michael was a graduate student researcher in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, where he studied the roles of genomic instability and epigenetic dysfunction in aging. Before this, he worked at Genocea Biosciences, performing pre-clinical and clinical research on T-cell-inducing vaccines for infectious diseases.

EDUCATION

Michael received his PhD in biological and biomedical sciences from Harvard University. He graduated from Tufts University with a BS in biology and a BS in biotechnology.
