On Saturday, May 6, Walker held its Lives in Bloom Gala. Thanks to the generosity of all in attendance, the event raised $400,000 in support of Walker's mission to transform the lives of children and families who are facing extraordinary challenges.
At the event, Bain Capital was presented with the Walker Distinguished Community Leadership Award in recognition of their continued support of the organization. Mike McArdle from Bain Private Equity accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
McArdle said, "I have personally been involved with Walker for the past nine years, and it is amazing to see the dedication of the Walker team towards helping kids who often have nowhere else to turn. There are more than 10,000 children up for adoption in Massachusetts, and 85% of the kids that age out of foster care become homeless at some point in their lives. With the Permanency Project, Walker has found a way to fill that gap in our child welfare system. Every child deserves to live with a family that is with them and behind them for their entire life."
