Bain Capital Sponsoring Gay Bowl XVII

Bain Capital is pleased to serve as one of the sponsors of Gay Bowl XVII, the National Gay Flag Football League's championship tournament which will played October 6 – 8 at Progin Park in Lancaster, Massachusetts.  In addition to Bain Capital, five of our local, professional teams –the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Revolution – are also sponsoring this tournament to promote diversity and inclusion through sports.

Gay Bowl brings together athletes from across the United States and Canada to compete for a national flag football championship. This event grew from a desire by LGBTQ and ally athletes to open up the game of football to historically underserved communities. More than 32 flag football leagues have been created across the country, including Boston's own FLAG (Friends, Lesbians, and Gays) Football, to foster an environment where LGBTQ persons:

  • Learn about and participate in a team sport, many for the first time in their lives
  • Build relationships and break down stereotypes between LGBTQ and allied teammates (which are a key to combating stereotypes and homophobia within and outside of the LGBTQ community)
  • Share common values with a broader community of individuals
  • Create opportunities for exercise for participants, helping improve and maintain healthy living standards and combat obesity

This is the second Gay Bowl to be hosted in Greater Boston and it is open to all spectators.
