Bain Capital Sponsors City Year Boston Starry Night Gala and City Year UK Red Jacket Dinner

The month of May is gala season for City Year, and Bain Capital was there as a sponsor of the City Year Boston Starry Starry Night Gala and the City Year UK Red Jacket Dinner.

City Year Boston held its annual Starry Night Gala on Thursday, May 25 at the Westin in the Seaport with Bain Capital as the presenting sponsor.  In his remarks Friday night, Bain Capital Managing Director Jonathan Lavine said, "City Year changes the trajectory for countless thousands of students each year and also provides young people with leadership skills that will last a lifetime.  I can't think of any better investment in our future, especially here in Boston, our founding city."

The nearly 550 attendees were also treated to a night of hearing directly from the corps members and the students that benefit from their support. This year, City Year Boston has raised $1.8 million, including $201,000 in new donations pledged at the gala.

Bain Capital was also proud to be a supporter of City Year UK's (CYUK) Red Jacket Gala Fundraising Dinner 2017. The evening was a resounding success, not only in celebrating the achievements of CYUK's volunteer mentors in schools but in also surpassing previous years' fundraising goals. The evening welcomed 160 generous guests and raised £215,000.

Sir Trevor McDonald, the evening's keynote speaker, disarmed and charmed the crowd with stories of his own experiences in school. The real stars of the night, however, were school pupils Ali-Met and Hafsa who stole the show when they interviewed Sir Trevor about his career and experiences.
