Bain Capital employees from the Mumbai office participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) on January 20, 2019 to raise funds for the Salaam Bombay Foundation.
The Salaam Bombay Foundation is an organization that works towards the betterment of the lives of India's underprivileged children living in urban slums and rural India. The foundation works to empower children to make the right choices about their health, education and livelihood by engaging with them through in-school leadership programs and after-school sports, arts, media and vocational training academies.
Bain Capital employees raised close to INR 500,000 (~$7,000) for the foundation, an effort that also involved an exciting poker event to raise funds from outside the firm.
TMM is an iconic event that has been held in Mumbai since 2004. It is the largest marathon in India and this year, saw a record number of more than 46,000 runners taking to the streets to participate. And at its core, the event is a strong platform for philanthropy. This year participants raised substantial funds for nearly 270 charities in India.
