Liam’s Lucky Charms Surpasses $3.5M in Total Donations to the MS Society

On June 29 and 30, 13 Bain Capital employees joined more than 2,000 riders for the 35th Annual Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway 2019. Team Bain Capital tackled the two-day, 150-mile journey from Boston to Provincetown in support of Liam's Lucky Charms for the twelfth consecutive year, raising money to help the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of America create a world free of MS.

Liam's Lucky Charms, which is now 190 riders strong, was founded by Bain Capital Managing Director and Corporate Controller Liam Kennedy. The team once again paced the fundraising field, and it has raised nearly $360,000 this year to date. The Liam's Lucky Charms' donations comprise approximately 16% of the $2,265,000 raised in 2019 so far to aid the fight against MS. 2019 is also the year Liam's Lucky Charms surpassed the $3.5 million mark in donations made to the MS Society.  They are expecting to pass the $4 million mark in 2020!

Beginning on the morning of Saturday, June 29, the cyclists biked from Quincy through the coastal towns of Massachusetts' South Shore to Cape Cod, ending the first leg at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne, where the riders were welcomed with massages, music and refreshments. Climbing back aboard their bikes early Sunday morning, the riders then peddled across the Bourne Bridge and along the gorgeous Cape Cod coast as they made their way towards the finish line in Provincetown, where they had the chance to socialize and celebrate their achievements before boarding a party boat back to Boston.

"I'd like to, once again, thank all of the riders, volunteers, sponsors and donors who helped make the 35thAnnual Cape Cod Getaway another resounding success," said Liam. "I am constantly overwhelmed by the support and sacrifice everyone makes in the effort to ride and raise money.   It is truly inspiring to see new faces join longtime supporters every year, and this year's outstanding fundraising results have brought us that much closer to putting an end to MS."
