Team Bain Capital Conquers the 2016 Pan-Mass Challenge Team Bain Capital

On August 6 – 7, 2016 the Bain Capital Pan-Mass Challenge Team, comprised of 31 current and former employees, friends and family members, biked a collective total of 6,000 miles over two days in the 2016 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) to raise funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Several thousand riders from around the world joined together to participate in the event and have committed to helping the PMC reach its goal of raising $46 million for The Jimmy Fund, the charity arm of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that has supported cancer research & treatment since 1948. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised more than $500 million for Dana-Farber, and the 2016 ride teams have raised $39.6 million towards the 2016 goal.

Team Bain Capital has set an ambitious goal to surpass their 2015 fundraising total of $1.9 million and finally hit the $2 million mark in 2016. So far, the team has made great progress and while the ride itself may be over, their fundraising challenge continues up until the deadline of October 1, 2016. 100% of donations go directly to Dana-Farber and is put to immediate use, helping to fund groundbreaking new clinical trials, research facilities, and lifesaving treatments.

The annual PMC event holds special meaning for many Team Bain Capital riders, and many teammates ride in honor of friends and family members who have had or who are currently battling cancer. For the past 7 years, the team has also participated in the PMC's "Pedal Partner" program, which pairs teams with patient partners who are currently receiving treatment at Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic.  This year, the team was partnered with Olivia, age 3, who is receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Olivia, her parents, and her three older siblings greeted riders at one of the rest stops in Lakeville, MA, and helped cheer on the team through the final stretch of Day 1.
