In August, 25 Bain Capital employees, along with 6,430 other friendly cyclists, participated in the 39th Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It is an incredible event that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the US, with 100% of every rider-raised dollar going directly to Dana-Farber. Over the past 39 years, PMC cyclists have ridden to raise and contribute over $598 million to cancer research.
The skill, perseverance and hutzpah of Team Bain Capital was off the charts this year! As if cycling 192 miles in 2 days isn’t challenging enough, Team Bain Capital braved intense humidity, fog, wind, torrential rain and flash flooding and tornado warnings. It all made for some interesting road conditions!
Our red-mohawked squad stuck it out and along the way could be heard singing every rain-themed song they knew! Other highlights of the weekend included having the coolest jerseys of all, waking up at 4am two days in a row, consuming at least 50 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches each, and a few crazy teammates from Credit who shaved “PMC” into the backs of their heads in exchange for $50k in donations! All for an amazing cause.
Team Bain Capital would like to thank all of you for your support and encouragement as well as for your generous donations to Dana Farber. To date, Team Bain Capital 2018 has raised $1,831,320!
